Mr Crackles

Move over kebab's! @omeone else is sitting on the late-night-feed throne.
It's been about a year and a half since I heard about Mr Crackles on The Urban List and I've been wanting to try it ever since.
The melt-in-your-mouth pork and crispy crackling are legendary, and I have spent many nights drooling over the menu.

It's not uncommon to see a line at Mr Crackles from what I hear and they're one of the best late night feeds you can find in the city.
The menu includes the classic pork rolls, a selection of fries with toppings and a salad option as well.

This is one of the only places that will give you the option of 'just the meat' per 100g and the ever amazing "Manwich" option, twice the meat of any roll and half the salad!
The shards of crackling are glistening in the shop mirror and if the smell wasn't already making you drool, this image will.

Overall for Sydney CBD, the prices are very reasonable with most of the menu sitting just under $20. The store is definitely designed as a 'get in/get out' eatery. There are, maybe only eight chairs facing the walls along the side of the shop but with a wide open door - it works perfectly for the late night traffic.

Cup of Crackling $5
We started with a cup of crackling. The good stuff was crunchy with a slight glaze to it and had a perfect balance of salt to it.
It's a nice alternative to fries, albeit an unhealthier one, but it really defines the name "Mr Crackles".

Crackles Classic $12
Doesn't it just look amazing?
And it was definitely more than just the presentation. The chosen bread was fresh, crunchy and had just the right amount of chew to it. The Vietnamese salad lining the bottom of the bun soaked into the bread and gathered all the juices from the pork. And the pork?! Well, it was absolutely tender, juicy and had the most perfect crunch to it. Cooked in five spices the combination and textures of the roll are exquisite.

Crispy Pork Nacho Fries  $12
This dish and I were a match made in heaven! Never in a thousand years would I have imagined this combination to grace my palate and yet here it is.
The Nacho Fries are constructed with a layer of fries to start followed by salsa, melted cheese, crispy pork pieces, shallots and finished with aioli.

It was truly gluttonous and the combination of the tender pork with the salsa and salty fries was to die for.
It may look small at first glance but it's a big meal on its own, after getting through that little box the immense bloating was completely worth it.

One of my most enjoyable take away experiences so far, Mr Crackles is something every Sydney sider needs to try!
